Comparison · recipe apps in Sweden

Which recipe app should you actually pay for?

Samla, SmakShare, Paprika and the notes app you already have. What each one costs, what each one does, and the one thing Samla does not do yet.

Samla

25 kr / month

Or 20 kr a month billed yearly. A free plan that keeps working, with no card.

SmakShare

59 kr / month

Or 33 kr a month billed yearly (399 kr). Seven-day trial, then it stops.

Paprika

~$5 once, per platform

Bought once per platform, so iPhone and Mac are two purchases. No subscription.

Apple Notes

Free

Free, and it will hold text. It will not plan a week or write a shopping list.

Features by app. A dash means the vendor does not publish an answer, not that the answer is no.

Where Samla loses, today

Samla has no iPhone or Android app yet; they are in development. SmakShare and Paprika both do, and if you want an app icon on your home screen this week, that is a real reason to pick one of them. Samla runs in the browser on a phone and is built mobile-first, but that is not the same thing.

What Samla does have is a free plan you can stay on: unlimited recipes you write yourself, 50 link imports a month, and no card to start. The other two ask for money before you know whether you like them.
