A SmakShare alternative.
Samla is a Swedish recipe app in the browser: save the recipe, plan the week, shop from a list sorted by aisle. This page puts Samla next to SmakShare. What they cost, what they do, and when SmakShare is the more sensible pick. Everything about SmakShare was read off their own pages on 2026-09-16.

Honestly
Which of them is yours?
When SmakShare is the better buy
You want the app on your home screen. SmakShare is in the App Store; Samla runs in the browser and has no app yet.
You want to see the whole product at once. SmakShare's seven days hand you everything straight away, with no plan to choose first.
You are already set up there. A collection that works is worth more than a lower monthly cost, and the two apps do broadly the same things.
When Samla is
The free plan does not run out. SmakShare stops after seven days; Samla's free plan carries on with unlimited recipes you write yourself and link imports every month, with no card.
It costs less each month. The two figures are in the cards above, both read on the same day.
The household is built in. Everyone in it sees the same recipes, the same week and the same list. SmakShare publishes nothing about an equivalent, so the table above leaves that cell empty.
Questions
Questions about SmakShare and Samla
- What does Samla cost compared with SmakShare?
- Both prices are in the cards above, read off each vendor's page on 2026-09-16. The difference the figure does not show is what happens next: SmakShare's period ends, Samla's free plan does not.
- Can I move my recipes over from SmakShare?
- Not in one press. If a recipe came from a link, you can save it again from the same link in Samla; otherwise photograph the page and import the photo. We are not building a SmakShare importer and do not want to imply we have one.
- Is there a Samla app?
- Not yet. Samla runs in the browser and is built mobile-first, so it works on a phone. But that is not the same as an app in the App Store, and SmakShare has one.
- What is a household?
- The household is the shared part: everyone in it sees each other's recipes, meal plans and shopping lists. A person belongs to exactly one, and it is one subscription for the household rather than one per person.
