Two-Ingredient Yogurt Cheesecake Hack

The viral yogurt cheesecake hack is simply thick Greek yogurt and spiced biscuits, chilled overnight until creamy, soft and spoonable.

Not cheesecake, but still good

This is the internet's “Japanese cheesecake”: biscuits pushed into a pot of thick yogurt and left in the fridge overnight. It is not really cheesecake, and there is no point pretending otherwise. What you get is a cold, tangy little icebox dessert with soft, spiced layers. For two ingredients and five minutes of work, that is a fair deal.

Food & Wine covered the original two-ingredient trend; Canadian Grocer included it in its 2026 TikTok roundup.

Ingredients

  • thick Greek yogurt250 g
  • spiced caramel biscuits4

Method

  1. Spoon the yogurt into a small bowl or wide jar and smooth the top.
  2. Push the biscuits vertically into the yogurt until they are almost completely submerged.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 12 hours, preferably overnight.
  4. Eat cold, scooping across the softened biscuits and thick yogurt so every spoonful contains both.

Buy the thickest yogurt you can find

A loose yogurt will not give the same cheesecake-like texture. Use Greek or strained yogurt that holds a spoon upright. If needed, drain ordinary yogurt through a coffee filter in the fridge for two hours first.

Before you call it cheesecake

This is a smart two-ingredient dessert, not a substitute for a baked cheesecake. The biscuits become soft rather than crisp, and the final texture is made for a spoon rather than a clean slice.
